Staffordshire County Council (Children and Lifelong Learning Directorate – C & LLD) provides help, support, training and guidance for schools and school staff.

Over the past few years the organisation has worked increasingly with the wider children’s workforce to ensure a more coherent service. Schools, especially, are helped to develop as self-reviewing and self –improving organisations.

The School Improvement Division from within the C & LLD has a vast range of experience which has developed over the past thirty years. The Division includes colleagues that offer dedicated expert support and training. This is done via Subject Consultants and Advisers as well as a team of Workforce Development Advisers and a group of trainers and assessors who deliver Work Based Learning.

Staffordshire C & LLD assists schools in getting to grips with the National agenda as well more local and individual school and staff CPD issues. Staffordshire have been instrumental in the development of “Artemis” an e-based induction programme based on the CWDC induction standards.

We provide consultancy, support and guidance especially to school support staff with regard to performance management, the Higher Level Teaching Assistant role, training and accreditation for Teaching Assistants, Parent Support Advisers, Administrative Staff, School Based Apprenticeships, and Lunchtime Supervisors etc.

Guidance can also be provided regarding approaches to CPD via networking and support staff champions.
